Barringwood Tasmanian Cuvee Sparkling NV

Description

Barringwood vineyard is located on a steep north facing slope overlooking the Don Valley in Tasmania’s central North. Established in 1993 the vineyard rises to an elevation of 280m and has one of the longest growing seasons in Tasmania giving their wines delicacy, elegance and immense complexity as well as a distinct backbone of cool climate acidity. Their success in producing outstanding wines on a climatically marginal site is dependent on supreme diligence and attention to detail in the vineyard.

A Chardonnay (64%) and Pinot Noir (36%) blend, Barringwood Classic Cuvee Sparkling was crafted using the ‘Méthode Traditionelle’ process, including 15 months on yeast lees and a partial (60%) malolactic fermentation. Salmon blush in colour this has lovely lifted aromas of strawberries and cream. The palate is lively and crisp with vibrant citrus and apple flavours and a creamy mouthfeel.

“93 Points. This release is a real class act and an enormous step up for Barringwood in precision, purity and sheer joy! With a faint blush tint, it’s a flamboyantly youthful and vibrant cuvée, driven by the aromas and flavours of pinot noir and the structure and focus of chardonnay. With just 17 months on lees, the story here is all about primary fruit, confidently led by pinot noir’s red apple and red cherry mood. The palate presents a wonderfully harmonious marriage between succulent fruit, soft texture and perfectly ripe, vibrant Tasmanian acidity. A new star in the vital category of affordable non-vintage sparkling.”- Tyson Stelzer, Australian Sparkling Report.
